FROM REEDS DESK - 1/13/10 I am currently working on the first round of setups for VHR Stockcar 2010 release. I am not too concerned with tire wear in this round of setups. That will come in the second round or when I work on open setups. I want to first get the base sets out to everyone. These shoud give you a good start and help you get around the track in this new release. I will also be putting together a basic setup guide very soon. VHR Stockcar is the best sim available and Dave has done a awesome job getting this out to us. Thanks Dave for all your hard work. Reed

FROM REEDS DESK - 1/19/10 I will be putting together more setups starting Wednesday. If there is one you would like to see sooner, let me know. Keep in mind that stability is what I am going for first. Setup server will be open when I am working on setups and I send them out as I work. Our setup exchange is there to help others. If you have stable setups made, please submit them so together we can bring everyone up to speed. Dave shared his work with us so lets share ours with others. Reed

1/26/10 - VHR 2010 gets some real life setup tests Reed Setups has started testing real racing suspension setups on VHR2010. The trick suspension setup called BBSS -Big Bar,Soft Spring- is complex but showing promising results. The setup utilizes soft springs in the front of the car complimented by a larger front sway bar. This doesn't sound especially complex, but does present some problems and the entire setup has to be rethought. BBSS allows the front end of the car to be lower, creating a lower center of gravity. This usually is accompanied by stiffer rear springs to keep the front end of the car pinned to the ground in the corners, and this will also keep the rear spoiler in the air throughout the corner. The BBSS is mostly used in Late Model racing. However, the same principles can be applied to other types of racing and we believe sim-racing as well. The process can improve lap times by allowing the car to be driven in deeper, being able to keep it on the bottom of the track, and allowing the driver to get on the throttle sooner. More on this once testing is completed.

1/29/10 - Building setups from scratch- Online Seminar Reed Setup Team will put on a series of How-To seminars. The first in the series of seminars will cover building setups from scratch and will be scheduled soon after the default Cup setups for VHR are released. This is your chance to become more familiar with building your own setups. If you would like to attend this seminar you will need to contact us as we plan on limiting the number of participants in each session. Seminars will be held in a locked server with Teamspeak 2 used for communication. Dates and times to be announced soon.

2/11/10 - Setup Team begins work on VHR Truck Setup Package Work began this week on building the VHR Truck Setup Package. After taking some time off to enjoy VHR and do some open server racing, the Team is back to work this week building balanced truck setups. Setups will be posted as they are completed and once all tracks have been finished they will be submitted for placement in an installer. Similar to the current Cup Setup Package available here and on the VHRacing.net website. Look for the Reed Setup Server and come on in and run some laps with us as we work on the setups. Thanks to everyone who came in the server during the Cup setup work. We appreciate the help.

3/24/10 - VHR 3.0 Setup Package will be out soon Setups built for VHR version 2.0 sometimes do not load correctly into VHR version 3.0. Reed Setup Team has created another default setup package for VHR version 3.0. The default setups from version 2.0 have been converted to version 3.0 and will be available very soon.

3/27/10 - What we do and who we are. Reed Setup Team. It seems today that not many are willing to help fellow sim racers out. If someone needs a setup in an open server, what they get is usually a junk setup. Sharing setups, wheel settings, graphics issues and other problems. Reedsetups.com was created to share knowledge and support VHR. Over the past couple months, We have helped racers tweak their wheels. When they ask fellow league members for help they get "play around with it, you will find the settings you like". If you are having problems with your wheel or just want to try the settings that the Reed Setup Team uses for their G25's, ask us and we will go over the settings. We have helped racers tweak their graphics cards. There are some settings that you can make to your graphics card that will give you better in game graphics and better frame rates. The graphics card you are running is probably newer than the rFactor game. By changing some settings in the graphic control panel you can leave some graphic control up to the card and not the rFactor game. This will give you better graphics and better frame rate. Oh yes and we do setups too. If you are having problems with loose conditions at Bristol, we can help. If you don't see a setup on the ReedSetups.com exchange and need one, ask us. We won't give you a junk setup. If you are in ReedSetups server we try to send out setups before anyone has a chance to ask. When someone enters the server the team will usually send the setup they are working on. So just who is Reed Setup Team? Larry Reed , Lynn Hughes , Tom Splain, Greg Holt and Mike Mahoney are the main contributors and core members of Reed Setup Team. If you would like to be part of the team or just want to learn more about setup building, contact us.

3/27/2010- Why your setups from 2.0 don't work with 3.0 and 4.0
The reason why your setups are not working is simple: The change in the spoiler and weight distribution has changed the default values in the setup file.
Example is: RF Camber is set at -4.0. After the update the default changed thus when you load your setup it now reads: RF Camber at -5.2.
Reason being for this is because when the weight distribution was moved to allow more rear weight then the default values that the game recognizes as the actual “in-game” angle for camber changes also.
This is also true for some other settings in the garage area that is affected by the spoiler (down force and drag) and weight distribution from front to rear.
All in all, the items that are affected in the garage area may include but not limited to:
Ride height Cambers Casters Gears Track bar
So, to some this up before I confuse everybody… You don’t have to make new setups. All you have to do is manually plug in your original garage values for your setup.
Ex: RF Camber in version 2.0: -2.0 After loading same setup in 3.0 or 4.0 then it looks like this: RF Camber in version 3.0: -3.2 Just put RF Camber back to -2.0 to get to your original set
Do this to all garage settings that have changed and you are set.

4/08/2010- Brandon Hastings - Setup Procedure Brandon Hastings has step to the plate and released his guide to building a setup from scratch. Brandon is a young racer from Texas and seems to be mature beyond his years as you wil see from his setup guide. You will see Brandon on open servers and realize that he is clean and fast and willing to share setups and advice on building them with the VHR community of racers. ReedSetups thanks Brandon and welcomes him to the VHR support team. Read his setup guide HERE.
